The team was originally established as the Seattle SuperSonics as an expansion team that joined the NBA for the 1967-68 season. The SuperSonics relocated from Seattle, Washington to Oklahoma City in 2008. The history of the team includes such stars as Gary Payton, Shawn Kemp and is where Kevin Durant first played in the NBA. The Thunder were also knows as the first NBA team for Russell Westbrook.
